Character Generation Dice Convention
Character Generation for nearly all GDW games was nearly as enjoyable as playing the game itself. Till Twilight 2000 came along and sought a greater amount of realism. The primary flaw for T2K is that it, as written, it can produce only a limited number of above average characters.
On the other hand, House Rules have corrected this almost to a point where the whole squad is SpecFor quality, and some role players are playing Doctors, Pilots and civilian careers just to even out the mix, even though they qualify for better military careers.
So...Here is my attempt to give us all better characters, yet still have a reasonable chance of not qualifying for advanced careers.1. Roll 2D6-2 in order for Strength, Agility, Constitution, Intellect, Education and Charisma.
2. Roll a 7th 2D6-2, this is the wildcard die.
3. If the wildcard die is equal to or greater than any one of the Stats as rolled, you may replace any one of those Stat's with the wildcard roll.
4. The Stat that was replaced is divided by 2 (round down) and that result is applied freely to any of the Stat values, even the one it just came from..
Example:
ST-6+1=7
AG-4
CO-7
IN-3/5
ED-5
CH-8
++-5The wildcard die of 5 can replace the rolled values for AG, IN and ED or (even though the numbers are equal).
Lets replace IN with the wildcard die making it a 5. The 3 that was replaced is divided by 2 (rounding down) which gives us a 1.
This one can be applied anywhere, even to IN which it came from. We chose here to apply it to ST.5. Now if the referee wants to further aid in the creation of hero level characters then we introduce the Enviroment roll. Total all Stats that are still below 5, divide that number by 2. The result will be the total number of D6-2 that will be rolled. The results are added together and these points can be applied anywhere.
In the Example above we see that AG is still less than 5. 1 / 2 = .5 (minimum is 1). So we roll an additional D6-2. We roll a 1 which minus 2 is less than 1 (we do not re-roll a 1, 1 is the minimum) so our environment roll is 1. which we can add anywhere, here we chose to add it to AG to make 5.
Advanced Career Stat' Requirements
To enter into any of the advanced military careers the Ranger, SPECFOR, SEAL's, Force Recon, Marine Sniper or any aviation career requires a Constitution of 5+ and an Intellect of 6+. A low Constitution implies poor health and a low intellect is usually exposed during extensive training and testing evolutions.
