M1098A HMLRV "Lover"
Based heavily on the Turkish Armies Cobra vehicle, the "Lover" is a joint venture of the U.S., Germany, Italy and Spain for a cost effective, fully amphibious light recon vehicle.
Nearly all parts are compatible with the HMMWV, reducing logistics problems. Vehicle has fully opening side and rear doors inclusive of three roof hatches. Fully amphibious without preparation by use of a double hydaraulic thrusters and a louver system. Good visiabilty is due too use of ballistic glass for front and side wind screens and vision blocks on side and rear.
Vehicle is has installed NBC protection. Night vision periscopes for driver and commander, a 9' telescoping thermal sight/antenna mast is installed behind the forward gunner position. A gunners post has a NHT provided. Carries Crew of 2 and 4 troopers, passenger arrangement has proven very uncomfortable in full gear.
