Under evaluation by the German Army pror to hostilities, weapon was adopted unofficially as belt fed reloads became an issue, since the belt used to reload depended on area and cloth belts were becoming more common.
SS77 can accept either cloth belt, solid link or disentegrating links.
Comes equipped with a folding stock.
With conversion kit weapon can be modified into a Mini-SS (below) which fires 5.56mm N with the same diversity of belts.

Most fire teams were issued the conversion kit, but with casulties many were lost or destroyed.
